Fight Cynicism - Be an Optimist

Fight Cynicism - Be an Optimist

I'm an optimist. I'm an idealist. I still believe that we (all of us) should operate from a central basis of doing good, helping others and changing our worlds for the better.

I've been this way all my life and I believe it to be one of my core strengths.

If we're talking business, it's because I know I can help you. I'm not simply trying to get more revenues, to make a sale. If I don't think I can help you, I'll tell you.

If we're talking about personal relationship, we'll, my real friends know that I'm there for them without any caveats or an "angle".

I've no time for people who don't believe that - be they friends, business colleagues, prospects or clients.

I have no time for cynics. I have no time for those who look for faults in others. Who don't assume the best in people they work and interact with.

Some will say that they're not cynical, they're realists. That they're simply seeing the world for what it is.

I call bullshit on that view. I'd suggest, if you feel that way, you look at the core values you operate from and the basis of your beliefs. What has led you to think that way? To - effectively - lose your faith in humanity? I'd suggest maybe you need a reboot - a new career, a new relationship, a new change that drives a new outlook.

Some will say that makes me naive. I say fuck them.

Life is too short to get caught up in a negative spiral. To not pursue our potential. To not celebrate it positively as we're doing so.

So I'll say it again. I'm an optimist. I'm an idealist.

I think you should be, too.
